Banksia Ericifolia

schaggyJanuary 13, 2009

Hi, I work at a nursery and I recently noticed the interesting trunk on the banksia ericifolia, and was curious if it could be made into a bonsai? Are you able to prune back branches almost to the trunk if the plant currently stands about 3 feet tall? Please help me because I am rather unfamiliar with this species and have not been able to find much info. regarding it.

Thanks

Look at http://asgap.org.au/APOL31/sep03-5.html, but remember that the larger the flowers the less suitable for bonsai the shrub will be.
