Some type of parasite on tree

romanalongMarch 26, 2014

Hello, I'm looking to see if anyone can identify the parasite
I have on this particular tree. It is a Dwarf Alberta Spruce, about 10 years old. It has spread and I have it on a Trident Maple also. Please see picture I've posted along with this message.

The white/bluish/greenish blotches? Those appear to be lichen, should be harmless, they grow when the water and air are clean. Check out the link below. They can be removed with a fungicide.

Here is a link that might be useful: Lichen

You can scrub them off with diluted bleach, but I personally like to keep a bit of that, whether or not it's considered 'correct', as I find it more realistic and interesting.
