Dig Narcissus Early?

donn_(7b-8a)February 13, 2011

I have two 3' x 6' nursery beds filled with Narcissus. The varieties are 'Sundisk' and 'Baby Moon.' I planted the beds, with ~150 bulbs each, in the fall of 2007. They bloom in May.

I need to re-work the section of the garden where these nursery beds are located, as soon as the snow melts.

Can I dig and either pot up or transplant these bulbs 2-3 months before they are due to bloom?

If it was me, I would just transplant them immediately if possible. I think they might root in and some of them even bloom this year just fine. Daffodils (Narcissus) are quite rugged and forgiving.
