Bulbs sprouting.........................in refrigerator

kimcocoFebruary 22, 2010

Yes, I did it again. Didn't plant my bulbs in time.

Can I still plant them in the ground when it thaws enough? I'm not interested at this point in planting in containers, so wondering if I can just wait it out.

Most are daffodils, there are a few tulips. They are in good shape, but sprouting in my refrigerator.

You can always plant them in the ground and hope for the best next spring. It might be a 50/50 chance of getting blooms this year though. They will have had enough cooling time, but might not develop a good enough root system.

This is just a semi-educated guess from chilling bulbs in the refrigerator for several years. Others might have better answers. :-)
