Spider Mites!!!

Rootie(8)June 2, 2005

Please help me and my tree! I have a 40+ year-old Ficus that I received as a gift in December. It keeps getting spidermite attacks. I have sprayed twice now with GardenSafe insecticide and the little buggers are still coming back. If I keep spraying it, will it start to damage the tree? Should I consider repotting it now, since I don't know when the last time it was repotted was?

Thank you in advance!

I've never heard of spider mites being a big problem with ficus, but then I don't live in a subtropical environment. However, here is a great link on bonsai pest control in general. I also suggest you contact Jerry Meislik at Bonsaihunk.ushref>. He is very knowledgeable about ficus in particular.
