low maintenance, durable plants for bonsai ?

nguyenty(9, Los Angeles)September 17, 2013

I am looking for low maintenance plants suitable for bonsai. I am currently growing some grape bonsai. They been through a lot and can take a lot of abuse yet never dies. I think they are beautiful as a bonsai also. Anything fit this category ?

You can try the Ligustrum (or Privet) commonly seen in hedges.
I once saw a couple of dug out privet in my street, in the middle of winter with snow and everything.. I asked and took the plants home where I planted them in the ground and in containers. They all survived! Thats hardy I think!

Boxwoods, which can also take some abuse, are also qualified for the job.
