Spray Paint safe for vegetables?

Aindra(8, BC)February 1, 2013

95% of my containers are gifts from various people who don't use them anymore. I have several bright colored pots and planter boxes; unfortunately, they don't work well in my cool climate. So far, only peas can thrive in these pots and the lettuces does grow but isn't fast as it could be.

The plants in my dark pots did very well.

I don't want to replace these containers by buying black-colored containers. It's too many containers. I'll use black spray paint instead. I'll spray exteriors but I'm wondering if it's safe to spray interiors, especially when the plants will be eaten by me and my rabbits.

I'll use if you're interested to know.

I use this paint regularly with no problems, but don't understand why you would paint the inside of plastic containers. I can't see any problem if you do, but just painting the top edge that might show should be enough. Al

The inner bright border in the planter boxes may bother me if the potting mix settle down, so I'd thought to ask. Thanks :)
