When do species tulips show up?

linnea56(z5 IL)April 18, 2011

I planted a boatload of Tulip Little Beauty last fall from Scheepers. I know they have narrow foliage, so are easier to miss, but shouldn't I be seeing some leaves by now? They were all protected with wire mesh, so they weren't eaten.

Right now, my earliest Greigii are blooming, others at least have leaves.

THanks!

I have some that look like Little Beauty that just finished blooming here in Z6. Most of my species tulips bloom in early- to mid-spring, and there are still several that have not bloomed. The foliage is easy to miss. If you don't see them in the next month, I would assume the worst, but they may pop up soon.
