Question about Jonquilla Narcissi fragrance

teeandcee(Florida 9b)April 4, 2009

Does the fragrance of any Jonquilla Narcissi waft, or do you have to get on your hands and knees to smell them? We're in a new home this year, and I've really enjoyed the daffodils the previous owner planted in the front foundation beds and was thinking of adding something fragrant.

Any suggestions welcome.

I appreciate the fragrance of the Jonquilla but have not noticed it any distant from the plant. Al

Thanks for replying. That's disappointing.

If you plant enough jonquils in one area, especially if it is also in a corner where wind doesn't move, you'll catch whiffs of them from time to time. One of my favorites, and a very fragrant one is Campernelle. Be sure to check its hardiness zone.
