Can I grow gladiolus in clumps?

ladyrose65April 24, 2013

Due to the dramatic increase in lilies bulblets, I need to manipulate room for the rest of my plants. Can I group gladiolus bulbs in masses? If I bunch them, will they flower? I usually spread the bulbs 2 to 3 inches apart, I don't have that option now.

When the fall comes, I am going to bounce the lily bulblets.

Are you placing them 2-3 inches in all directions? I planted glads in an oblong raised bed, spaced at 4 inches in all directions. I even had a watering pond in the center of the plot.
They blossomed great and stood up w/out staking. :)
