tulip bulbs

I received a pot of beautiful tulips for Mothers Day this year. I would like to plant them in the yard in the Fall, but what do I do with them right now? The blooms and leaves are almost dead.

In Arizona unless you live at a high elevation, your tulip bulbs will require refrigerator chilling for at least 6 weeks before planting. If you want to try, you should dry them well when they drop their leaves, and store in a cool dark place with good ventilation, until about September, when the refrigeration should start. I am afraid you will be disappointed with next years performance. Al

Thank you Al. I am sure I will be disappointed with the tulip bulbs next year, but then, since I have moved here from Ca. I have been disappointed with almost everything I have tried to grow in Az. If its not a cactus or a mesquite tree, chances are it won't grow!!
