Colchicum - When to dig?

geoforce(z7a SE PA)June 9, 2009

Have about 1 dozen mounds of colchicum which have been in place for about 4-5 years. They are starting to get fewer flowers because of crowding. How long after the leaves die to dig? and do the bulbs need a hardening-off before replanting?

Thanks in advance.

George

Do you have green foliage right now? Mine do, and I'm in your area. Wait until the foliage turns mostly yellow/brown, then dig. Replant immediately, water once and then leave them be.

Be careful with these--they are *very toxic*, as in carcinogen and mutagen.
