what soil or mix for earthbox?

ktmeyerMarch 1, 2011

I have an earthbox that never has produced well. I have used straigt compost and I've tried potting soil. I am using Al's 5-1-1 mix for my other containers this year, would that work in the Earth Box? Or should I stick with some bagged potting mix?

Many use a slight variation of it. What will work best will depend largely on how fine the bark is, but something around a 3:2:1 ratio of bark:peat:perlite will give the extra wicking needed in a SWC.
