In Z5, north of Syracuse, NY, your garaged overwintering container blueberries begin leaf out on March 4th. Time for me to get with the program! Tomorrow looks to be a nice day to give them some sunshine. Not today......current temp. is 23F.

Al once called this the blueberry two-step. Good luck keeping them from a frost.

My nectarine and peach mini trees both budded in my unheated, windowless garage last week. I took them outside for a couple of days, now they are in the laundry room (does that count as 1 two-step or 2 steps). The forecast for the rest of the week is warm.

The peony trees and figs are breaking dormancy too. It was never below 0 at my house (Zone 5).

Not container plants, but all my fruit trees in the yard are having buds swell up WAY too early. I hope we don't get any late frosts or I won't get much fruit this year.

They're outside now. Yeah, I'll definitely be doing the second half of the two-step later today, putting them back in the garage. Possible record warmth tomorrow!
