Planting seedlings in 5-1-1; should I wash off the dirt first?

tomatotomataMarch 25, 2013

Actually, they appear to be planted in a peat-based planting mix. Washing off all the dirt seems like I could hurt the roots. Should I do that, or just loosen the "soil" like I do when planting in the ground?

If you're going from small pots to significantly bigger ones, I would just make sure the peat mix is thoroughly moist before transplanting. I try not to disturb seedling roots when transplanting.
