Could someone tell me the cut-off date to do this?

Hi Annie, I have always been told that you need to plant peonies in October so if you're going to plant them you'd better do it as soon as possible. I know I've read where others planted them in November. As long as they have a few weeks before the ground freezes to put on new roots they should be ok. Hopefully if you put them in a sheltered spot it will be warmer for a few weeks and you can push the zone.

Not for me, I've been done planting since Oct. 31st. A friend in GA, had to dig up a water line, and now have the roots potted up. I thought they would be ok for her to plant, but then I'm known to push planting times. I told her I would try to find out for her. She really isn't into plants, but enjoys her border of peonys.

I told her I'm in zone 5 and plant up to the end of October, and I thought with her living in Georgia, they would be ok to plant up to a month later. I also told her to call a local nursery and they would tell her what to do with them. She is pretty busy being a new mom,and I've not heard from her since Sunday.

At any rate, thanks for the input, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
