Overwintering Datura

jim_6b(TN)November 10, 2007

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to dig a datura and bring it into a garage or basement for the winter.

I have a triple yellow that was started late in the season and never had time for the seed pods to mature. The plant is 6 to 7 feet tall and about 6 feet across at the top. It looks like a small tree and has produced many flowers. I was hoping to maybe trim it back and try to save it for next year if possible.

Don't worry about responding, I did a search and found the information I needed. Thanks anyway.

I did last year. But it was in the house with its own flourescent and a S. window. It bloomed serveral times and even finished the seed pod. I also had a heating pad to help with the cold windows problem.

It would be too much hassle for just a regular one but this was a very special one...
