Looking for Al's 5-1-1 gritty mix recipe

sharonrossyApril 2, 2013

Hi all, I'm desperately looking for the ingredients and instructions for the container mix for the tomatoes. I would greatly appreciate help! I've been container gardening for a while but only came across this mix at the end of last year and can't find the exact recipe and ingredients and whatever is needed. Thanks, Sharon

I have linked to the recipe for both gritty mix and 5-1-1 below. I really think your tomatoes will do much better in 5-1-1 than gritty mix in containers. The gritty is best for long term container plants. But the 5-1-1 mix is excellent for annuals, including vegetables, that complete their growth in one season. Its also cheaper and easier to find ingredients for.
