Cucumber Puning

Athenian(USDA 10B/Sunset 22)May 29, 2012

Okay, I admit that I'm getting a bit obsessive about my EarthTainer experiments.

Yesterday I realized that I hadn't understood how to use the netting channels properly so my cucumbers may well end up as a big tangle. Today I was reading that they should also be pruned. Can someone explain how that should be done. My cage is full of blooms and even has some tiny fruit. I'd hate to loose any in the making but I want to do this correctly.

Thank you.

out of each node there are four things that you will see. 1) the flower/fruit 2) the leaf 3) the tendril(the thing that holds the plant on to the trellis) and 4) the growth point (similar to a sucker that is pruned on a tomato plant). the growth point is what you prune. just pinch it off.
