Foundation Planting

jz500(5 NW PA)April 13, 2014

We have a small house that is being taken over by evergreens that were planted (by po) too close (and too many) to the house. I am sure they looked cute when they were small, but now they are taking over. They planted several arborvitae, Rhodies and Holly bushes right up against the house. Pretty sure that's a bad thing. Last year I took one out and you can't even tell it is missing. Should I consider taking them out all together and starting over? So far it seems the more I trim these shrubs the more they grow. I think I know my answer but frankly, I'm rather afraid to do anything so drastic and would love some input! Thanks!
