I need landscape inspiration pictures

destin3g99(7b)April 14, 2010

I'm sorry if this is a double post. I posted, but it didn't show up. DH and I are wanting to remove the hedges put in by our home builder and get some nicer landscaping in. We are going to hire a landscaper from a local company to come draw some plans for us. I have been trying to find some pictures of what we like to show the landscaper, but I'm not having much luck. Are there any good websites with photos? Anyone willing to show pics of their landscaping?

We live west of Atlanta. 3 sides of our home get severe sun/heat for most of the day and the north side gets absolutely no sun. I think I would like some clean lined hedges in the back with flowers and ornamental grasses in front of them.

Wow. In Poland. That'll help.

Destin, I'm not that sure you need pictures, because you sound like you know what you want, but if you do, head for your local library and look through the landscaping section. There are many books outlining principles and ideas; also magazines galore on the market. Used bookstores can be a treasure trove of both books and magazines.

For me a picture is definitely worth more than a 1000 words so I've bookmarked lots of landscaping sites. I'll post a few links which may help you altho you could also do a google search on whatever topic you specifically need info on.

http://www.houzz.com/ - you can choose from many styles and areas and either exterior or landscape to see lots of pictures

http://renegadegardener.com/ - lots of info here

http://www.gardensofricecreek.com/rock.html - especially if you love rocks as I do

http://www.sustland.umn.edu/index.html - info

http://www.flickr.com/photos/nativedesign/sets/72157600265406472/ - you can also do a search on this site for pictures of any other topic, landscape or other

http://picasaweb.google.com/maureenshaughnessy/TheWaterwiseGardenPrinciplesOfXeriscaping# - you can also search this site for other topics

http://www.oregonlive.com/hg/index.ssf/2009/07/a_watercolorist_uses_her_yard.html - an artist's perspective on gardening

http://www.mossacres.com/photo_gallery.asp - using moss in the garden

This is just a quick random selection of some sites I've bookmarked.

The last link below is the blog of a member on this message board who has a wonderful cottage garden as well as travel pics and info.

Hope this helps to consolidate your ideas and perhaps give you a few more. :-)

I also recommend www.finegardening.com for inspiration pictures.
And you never know what you;ll find with a google image search. Just keep messing around with the words in the search and you might be surprised with what you find.
