Planted fingerling potatoes upside down :(

Okay, dumb-dumb planted fingerling potatoes upside down. Do we need to dig them up and plant the tiny sprouts facing up? Ugh...

If they already had significant sprouts on them then yes, they would do better with the sprouts up - assuming you can dig them up without damage.

But sprouts will develop from any eyes on the potato so there really isn't a right side up vs. upside down to a potato seed. You just plant them with several eyes up.

Personally, I'd just leave them alone.

Thanks, Dave. I agree, leave them alone.

How long ago did you plant them? If it has been a couple of days, and the soil is wet, just leave them be.

After a couple days the potatoes will already have started to adjust. You may have set them back a little bit, but they will grow.

Planted them yesterday and the soil is wet. Leaving them alone sounds best.
