Need recommendation for plant to anchor corner of house (pic)

morris000May 6, 2014

The tall holly at the corner died during the winter last year (don't know why, except that it was exceptionally cold here for a while). Need a recommendation for something to replace it. Corner is the north-east corner of the house. Zone is 5b/6a (varies depending on which map I use). I would prefer to avoid another holly because the foundation plants are all hollies. Conifer or deciduous would be OK. Thanks!

Its was due to the severe cold. Im in z6b and almost lost my holly bushs as well. Lots if winter burn.

Id highly recommend Picea glauca 'Pendula' for that spot.
