Has anyone ever tried something like these" Recycle a Wine Bottle Plant Nanny Stake " for container tomatoes?

For my .02 worth, any kind of self watering set-up like pre filling something stuck into the surface of the soil, would probably empty out almost immediately due to the fast draining nature of the mix. Not sure if that's what you are talking about or not. I used some 2 liter soda bottles back in the day for in-ground gardening, to get some water deep into hard ground.
