A local feedstore has this, but in sizes 1 and 2, not grower. Which of these would be appropriate for the gritty mix?

And since it comes pre-packaged in brown paper, I cannot open it to look inside!

If it says Cherrystone Grit and is mined by New Ulm Quartzite Quarries, you want the #2 product. That's what I use. If it's something else, you want a product that is as close to the 3/32-3/16 size range as possible. If I had to guess, I'd say try the #2 product.

It was indeed Cherrystone Grit #2 mined by New Ulm. Great to have found a local source!

Now all I need is something to use instead of Turface, but that's another thread.

Al, since you are using this product, about how many gallons are there in a 50-pound bag? The information would be useful in terms of figuring out the gritty mix amounts for the two other ingredients when using the entire bag.
