Asclepia cancellata in container

avg5August 7, 2014

Hi there!

I have an asclepia cancellata, or "wild cotton," start, and I live in an apartment with a nice large patio. I'm wondering if this plant will do well in a large container and if it needs a trellis.

What do you guys think?

I have grown Asclepias in containers but only for a short period of time. I assume it could be done, but you may have to pull it out and root prune it so the runners will not become root bound.

I see listings of 2-3 feet and 4-6 feet, in a pot, I would assume a height of about 3-4 feet, and I don't think it would need trellised. Perhaps staked if in a windy spot, but the stems of Asclepias are pretty sturdy!
