okay, well. I'll just try to hire someone to dig that stuff up.

Violet, don't throw in the towel here. I know there are folks who can give you good advice - who haven't had the time to read this yet.

Think it's really nice of you to want it to look good for the many who will drive by. I'm not as altruistic, would concentrate my efforts on the back, where you, family and friends can enjoy it.

Here is a link that might be useful: Link to Violet's cross-post

thanks for the link and the encouragement. I've more or less decided to unearth that dry riverbed now anyway -- will have to hire someone to do it.

Having the hardest time finding a "gardener" --not a landscaper who wants to sell me rock walls and hardscape. Oh, and finding one that speaks English? impossible around here, it seems.

Guestions: what is DG?

Another question, could you use a blower to move the build up of sand to the street?

Gesticulating might work for helping a Hispanic worker understand what you want. Maybe learn enough words to demonstrate also, e.g., aqui = here.

thanks rosiew. A blower might have helped in the beginning (now it's too compacted). I even bought a blower . . . but haven't put it together because I got scared at all the warnings that came with it. Lame, I know.

I speak Spanish, fortunately--just not as well as English.

"DG" is decomposed granite.
