Front walkway drainage

mattatxJuly 6, 2010

I have a small drainage issue on the walkway to my front door. The yard slopes towards the house and water pools on the sidewalk. I was planning on installing a flagstone path running parallel to the driveway and leading up to the front porch. I know this will probably increase the amount of water that collects but is there anything I can do to improve the run-off of the water? Would a dry well be appropriate? French drain?

Here's a link to a couple of pics....

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Have you considered putting gutters in. They would carry much of the water from the roof, which I think contributes to your water woes. Place downspouts on the far side of the garage and use flex pipe to move the water from the porch overhang toward the left side of your home.

The flagstones will look great there.
