bark scraped from tree

babsyboutique(5)May 5, 2009

While transplanting a ten year old maple tree, bark was accidently scraped from the tree (approximately 12 by 4 inches). How can I repair the scrape? Will the tree be okay?

Vegetables and trees have different problems so the folks over on the Trees Forum would likely be more helpful about your problem. ;)

Paint the spot with some white water based paint and it should be ok.

I would just leave it alone, and make sure that it gets lots of ventilation. By that I mean if the scrape is at the bottom, make sure there aren't weeds blocking air and sunlight.
Trees are awfully good at healing themselves.
Good luck!

It should heal as long as the scrape doesn't circle the whole tree.
