I have been using the pine mulch fines formula. My problem is I have to make a four hour round trip to buy it. A local landscape company can provide bulk melaleuca fines, but I don't know if it needs to have it's ph level amended or can I use it as is in place of pine bark fines. Help !

I would call a contractors service or landscaping company that works with that stuff and ask them about its pH.

There's been a good amount of research on this substitution, see the link below for some articles from Google Scholar. None of them are readily accessible, but if you call the named authors, they're usually happy to help individual hobbyists with questions like this.

Bagged melaleuca mulch that has been mulched to kill the seeds makes a decent mulch alternative. It does not float, lasts a long time and is us unattractive to termites.
