Moltan Oil Absorbant #7133

KrisenrOctober 27, 2011

Hey All,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this product in Al's gritty mix, as a replacement for Turface.

Here's the link

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/Moltan-33-lbs-granular-oil-grease-water-and-coolant-absorbent?itemIdentifier=690875

Right under the product theres a link for MSDS information, click it to see it's specs.

It's montmorillonite clay, calcined 87-90%

Crystalline Silica (Quartz 7-10%)

And Crystalline Silicia (cristobolite) less than 3%

Look forward to hearing your experience with this product!

Thanks,

Kris

How appropriate it will be in soils depends on the o/a particle size range & size distribution over that range, and whether or not the product is stable. To test for stability, freeze it in a Dixie cup or another freezer safe container overnight & see if it's stable the next day.

Thanks Al. I'll pick up a bag and test it out. I found one other thread where someone soak tested and it was stable.
