Tomato - Leaf condition

saoodhashimOctober 8, 2013

I have 2 tomato plants in two separate 5 gallon containers. Both at the moment are around one foot tall. As of now there are even new leaves coming and new branches developing. But initially there were some leaves which were as shown in the picture. New leaves are however, going fine.

Is this also a over watering situation which perhaps has now been corrected?

Saood, that soil looks pretty grainy, fine and 'particle-y.' I just don't know if a lot of air is getting down into the root zone.

If this is grainy then I dont know what you will say to the actual grainy one that I have in the other tomato pot :)

Btw, I dont think its so grainy and particle-y though it may have compacted a bit because of watering as it has sunk down in the pot as I highlighted in one of my earlier post. Would it be possible for you to show my a picture or two of the soil as it should look like so that I can make some sort of comparison.

As for the leaf condition, you did not give any comments?

I can't really comment on the leaf as my tomato experience is pretty limited. If your bush is putting out new growth, then it could be just stress from transplant shock on some older leaves. if it's only a couple of leaves, then no biggie IMHO.
