Opinion on proposed foundation plantings?
I just got a design drawn up by a local nursery (not sure how to post it) and am stumped about something. She has the foundation plants along the house to be a daphne by the front door, then a boxwood, then a dragon lady holly (for height as it is b/w two tall windows that go pretty low to the ground), then another boxwood. I get that she is trying to do deer resistant evergreens. But the holly just doesn't seem to go and they do get pretty big.
I like the idea of the red berries on the dragon lady holly, though. Would a good substitution be the cranberry bush viburnum? But this is deciduous and maybe would look too bare in the winter? I found something called Winterberry Holly that also has beautiful red berries in the winter but stems are completely barren of leaves then.
I'm quite confused as to what to do. Any suggestions would be so appreciated.
