Flowers for shade under a tree and near a fence

oilslickAugust 28, 2011

I'm looking to grow flowers under a tree in my backyard, but most of the flowers are the colored leaf ones. I'm looking for something that has nice blooms and is a perennial. I've considered pulmonaria. Any advice?

bahia(SF Bay Area)

Japanese anemone, hostas, Tricyrtis species and Impatiens oemiana and I. Francis and annual Impatiens species which reseed each year such as I. balfourii or glandulifera. Hydrangeas would be another good choice._
