Chicken saddles

Anyone have hands-on experience with chicken saddles? I came home last night to discover one of my hens has a tell-tale sore on her side and was being pecked by the others. You can read the whole story on my blog. She seems quite fine this morning in her isolation cage, and at least one of the young roosters will soon go to another home. But I thought maybe it's time to try a saddle.

How big is your flock, Johanna? My chickens will also peck another who has a wound started. But I don't get that kind of injury very often because I keep the roo population down. Roos tend to be more aggressive with the hens when there is a lot of competition. I also choose which ones are the most gentle when I do it, as the ones I want to keep. I've decreased my flock down to twenty five hens, and I'm facing extra roos now. I suspect one is plenty, but shall prolly keep two who get along. I have two more who need to be out of there and will be as soon as spring starts to come and others with egging flocks consider adding a roo.
