What is wrong with this tomato plant

biggamejimMay 11, 2013

This sweet 100 plant has been in this location for about a month and in the last day or two has started showing these brown spots on the leaves. The location it is in is slightly lower than the rest of the garden so it may get more water than other plants but it has not rained in a few days and this discoloration just showed up all of the sudden. Do I need to remove this plant immediatley? And if so, can I put another transplant in that spot?

I'd wait a day or two and keep an eye on it.

Mine has that on some leaves too but it hasn't caused any problems in production and it doesn't appear to be spreading. I think mine occurred because I had a late cold snap. Got to 38 two nights in a row after 60 degree nights. I agree with the other person. Hold off, if its a couple of leaves and doesn't spread you're probably fine.

Thanks for the response. We had some really cool nights earlier this week, so hopefully that is that is the problem.

Was it possibly lying on the ground? I usually prune the first foot up from the soil level so leaves aren't touching the soil/ground. In any case, I wouldn't fret. Maybe clip the affected part for now.
