harvest yield per plant?

purplemage(z5-MI)June 10, 2008

Anyone have a guide at what one can expect in terms of pounds or number of fruits/vegetables per plant for vegetables during harvest time?

I'd be grateful for any information or links regarding plant production...even if it is a per row estimate, etc...

Maybe the link below will be somewhat helpful. Though it's for Maryland, it does show a general number of plants or rows needed per person. Not exactly what you asked for but maybe a guide?

Any data on plants per person or fruits/vegetables per plant are estimates only, since so many factors play into production, like weather, length of growing season, diseases, insect damage, etc.

Here is a link that might be useful: Feet of Row per Person

Good heavens. Is that feet of row per person -- per year, if the only fruits and vegetables you ever eat the whole year are from your garden, and you put up (somehow) everything the garden grows? Because I consider the Alfies to be an extremely fruits-and-vegetables-eating family, and there's just no way we could keep up with that. 6.7 tomato plants per person?!
