Root Cellar

skagit_goat_man_(WA)August 23, 2009

We were looking at someone's cold room yesterday and liked the all cement construction. I asked them how they poured it and they said they didn't. It's a septic tank. They had the vault company pour the top to accept a door and then installed it on end. It has a floor drain hole built in too. The vault and delivery/setting cost $1000. I thought it was a pretty slick idea. Tom

I'll be darned, that is clever.! :)

gardendawgie, GIS 'new septic tank' and you'll see them--they look like giant bathtubs with lids, with a hole on both ends to accept the intake/output pipes.
