What is happening to my peas?

carriehelene(5)June 17, 2014

They were growing well. No flowers yet though. And now the tips of them are dying. First the tendrils die and then new leaf growth starts dying off. The established leaves seem to be fine, but I've never seen anything like this. Any ideas? Actually, they are my husbands peas, mine are 3 feet away from his and are flowering/growing fine. He's going to be heartbroken when he sees the flowers on mine.

Hard to tell what's going on in the picture. Have you had hot weather where you are? A really hot day can cause the growth tips of peas to shrivel. The rest of the leaves look healthy, so that would seem to rule out other common problems like powdery mildew. Do you know what variety this is, and the variety of the ones doing better? Though on the whole peas hate hot weather, some varieties are somewhat better than others.
