The last batch of straw I bought cost me 9 bucks a bale. I use it for duck bedding.I asked for two bales and it was $25.98!
They said they had to buy it from New York.
Must have a designer name.
Ugh! For that much, they would have kept it.
It was already in the pick up or I would have!
Goldenpond, I've used what they call "construction hay" for bedding. It's the hay they put down on the sides of the road when they plant grass seed to hold the seed in place. There's nothing wrong with this hay at all and it's far cheaper than buying straw.I usually pay about 5.00 a bale for it.
where would I get it?
That's the million dollar question, isn't it? I've read all kinds of great ideas and people getting things like free woodchips by the truckload.
No one around here seems to do things like that...
$3.50 a bale in central IL. It's prob. so cheap because we have to tolerate the winters we have and not luxuriate in the Florida sun...lol.
I feel bad @ $2.50 for rectangle 50# bale wheat straw.
Wow, for those prices you should just buy them some silk comforters next time ;-)
full of duck feathers LOL
Plant some tall grass maybe?
