Strange fungi or mushroom

Two very strange growths appeared on my garden. I have not had any luck identifying what they are. Fungus or mushroom ?? Pictures are attached. Can anyone help identify.

that's a stinkhorn fungus; it looks like Mutinus elegans.

Yep, they are so frieky, the dog stinkhorn fungus. I have a photo of them in my Yahoo garden album. I posted it at the Carolina Gardening Forum, thinking it was a local native. I got my answer the saem day. This website is terrific. Great pic of a slimy subject.

Means you have healthy soil. They stink like, well "stinkhorns" and they look like well they look awful like some kind of perverted sexual act took place in your garden but they are fine. Be glad you have them.
