Bushy plant with with Snowball like flowers

sonecrocket(5)June 24, 2009

I have run across this plant in my back yard when I moved in. Must be a young one. The neighbor has one that is behind his fence that is much larger and has white snowball like flowers on it. Any ideas on this one?

Looks like Sambucus canadensis or it's common name, Elderberry. I have several and I love them. When the seeds are ripe the birds devour them! If you google it you can find lots of interesting facts about this shrub. By the way, I really like your background city picture and the way it contrasts with the color pictures.
