A weird Asiatic lily starting to bloom

This lilys' stem is aprox. 6 inches wide and .3 of an inch.

I counted almost 200 buds that are clustered on the top.

there was a post on the "name that plant" forum that showed a pic of a very strangely growing plant, and someone said it was caused by fasciation. you may want to post this pic on the name that plant forum. maybe someone on that forum could tell you if this is caused by fasication. it was a new one on me. i happened to find this link about lilies and fasciation for what it's worth.

Here is a link that might be useful: fasciation

Thanks thyme2dig, yes I had read about fasciation before and really enjoy the article you linked me to.

There seem to be a host of reasons for this happening, everything from slug damage to over culturing.

I have a whole clump of them that are displaying lesser symtems but when that clump blooms it will be amazing!

Cheers, Joyce
