Worms on carrot tops

RaistlynJuly 8, 2012

Hi all,

I am new gardening. Absolutely new. Planted some carrots this year and although they took off well, I've noticed the leaves wilting for no reason about 3 weeks ago. Upon closer inspection, I saw some small worms on them. They are whitish with black backs. About an inch long. They seem to affect th leaves (not sure if they are stunting growth though) only. When I thinned them out, I did not see any damage to the roots so don't think they are flies.

We have had a lot of rain this spring which probably meant a little too much water for all my plants at some point but the days are getting drier and hotter now.

Any idea anyone? I live in switzerland and apparently that's equivalent to a zone 8.

Thanks!

Clear, close up pics might help. Then I could at least Google around and try and find a match.
