Pink Banana squash

beth_b_kodiak(zone 5a)July 16, 2012

My pink banana squash is going berzerk and has LOTS of fruits on it. Way more than I need for winter.

Anybody know if it is OK to pick and eat some of them as nice tender babies? When they are very little they sure look like yellow straight neck squash.

Seems like an appropriate revenge on this monster that is taking over half of the garden.

Next year I'm planting it at the edge of the compost heap.

Yes, in fact, I think the quality as a summer squash is excellent, to me it's comparable to the "trombocino" type Italian squash.

Years back, I had banana squash planted right at the end of my squash row, I kept wondering why fruit would keep disappearing and nothing was growing... come to find out, my mother thought it was summer squash and kept picking it until I told her what it really was.
