Have: Datura Seed Pods

senjanevada(9)October 29, 2008

These plants grow in our front yard before we moved in. They have plenty of dry pods that looks ouchhhh....

I might able to out them in a small box and mail it first class. Those who want those pods, check the postage from CA 92395 to yours, and send me sasbee, unless you have plant/s to trade as listed in my want list.

Let me know. Thanks.

Jane,

Those seed pods are not ready to harvest. The seeds may not even be mature yet. When they are ready to harvest/pick/gather, they will be tan or brown and they will split open revealing all the tan/brown colored seeds. They can then be traded and packed just as most all seeds are....no box needed. Postage would then just be 83 cents each way if under 1 OZ.

well in this case, when they split open, mine never turned, but they did split open and the seeds inside were lite tan to tan. some were even a lite cocoa color. very lite. and the pod is kinda mushy. believe me, its alot softer than my datura, that is a brugsmania, its leaves are smooth, and rounded leaves. a datura has pointed leaves 3 or more points and has shiny not velvety leaves. i have both. people are more interested in the way the flower points, but these are the things i have observed. although they are related to each other. LOL use gloves if you do take them apart. rose gloves. hope that helps!! ~Medo :')

So medo, you are saying then that what is pictured is a brug? I don't think so.

Here is a pic of Brug pods.

Here, the second one down is a pic of a mature Datura seed pod that has turned tan, and cracked open.

My Datura has rounded leaves, not pointed, and the seed pods look like the one Jane posted.

Jane, sorry your kind offer to share seed pods has turned into a discussion, but I didn't want anyone to have the expense of sending a box twice, when it would be better to harvest the seeds from the pod,(they make a lot more than about anyone would want or need) once they are mature and split, and just send in a regular bubble envelope..

The pictures posted were taken in September as the date shown. Here are the latest pics. But, the plants are gone. My hubby took 'em down. I saved some seed pods.

I send my address to scgrdnr and galina09, haven't received your sasbe yet. Let me know if you are still interested in it, otherwise the pods will go to the trash can this week-end.
