Spider Mites on carnivorous plants?

wildpersimmonsJanuary 4, 2008

Hey folks,

I've had a spider mite problem that I quelched but survived on my carnivorous plants, and I don't know how to address them there. I'm really worried about spraying them with anything but water because of the glue surfaces. Has anyone dealt with something like this before? One is a pinguicula, and the other is didierea. Help!

Well, darn it, can't a carnivorous plant just eat its own bugs?? ;)

Al, yes, I am the queen of pointing out the obvious.

Carnivorous plants hate me - I can't get the humidity up high enough to keep them happy. Years ago, I bought a sundew with the idea that it would eat some fungus gnats for me. It sulked unless I put it under glass, which of course kept it away from the very bugs it was supposed to eat.

My gut instinct would be to go ahead and spray with whatever mite product you've got, but I'm guessing it's probably a better idea to check with the good folks at the Carnivorous Plants Forum before doing anything.
