Pruning a Cordyline Terminalis?

AnneCecilia z5 MIMarch 27, 2010

I have a beautiful Cordyline Terminalis 'Red Sister' that was a gift from my son a few years back. It is apparently very happy being an indoor plant in winter and an almost-outdoor plant on my screened in porch in summer which rejuvenates that wonderful hot pink in the leaves. It even blooms for me each winter. It now has some stalks that are 3' tall (above the pot) and I've read it can reach double that height - not something I have or want to make room for! Will it tolerate being pruned?

Yes. It will. The tops are easily rooted in water, too, if you want to make more of them.
