Do paperwhites grow more than once?

africanvioletlvrMarch 12, 2007

I got paperwhites for Christmas and they've grown, bloomed, and then got too heavy and I cut them all back. Are these one-time-use-only bulbs or will these bulbs grow again soon if I let them sit?

If I were you I'd plant them out into your garden so they can rebloom next season. They will need a well draining soil, sun and will be one of the earliest bulbs to bloom.

I hope you left the leaves and only cut off the flowers. They need their leaves to stay on until they wither naturally - the leaves are what makes the food to create the buds that bloom the following year.

If you plant them out in the garden they should grow and bloom again if they are fertilized and you didn't cut off the foliage until it was yellow and dried but they won't "force" indoors again.
