It's probably because few people ever try it. I, for one, am up to my ears in Chlorophytum offsets, so I'd never dream of trying them from seeds. Could be a fun experiment, though. Let us know how it goes!
Finally found this "It can also be grown from seed whichis best sown during spring or summer in a warm, shady position in a sandy slightly acidic soil. Cover with a thin layer of sand and keep moist. Germination is usually within 3 weeks. Seedlings grow fast and are best planted out as soon as they are big enough to handle." Googling Chlorophytum from seed.
